Here at BowBelleBlush I take pride in my reviews. It's how I started out and it's one of the subjects that I am most passionate about writing. When I buy a new product I endlessly scour the internet to read all of the reviews that I can get my hands on, the good, bad and ugly, I want to know it all. Here's hoping that this review helps out someone who is looking for a bit of Vitamin C in their life.
Disclaimer: this product was bought with my own money. I have no affiliation with the brand.
Since becoming even more obsessed with Caroline Hirons throughout lockdown (didn't think it was possible, she is a goddess in my eyes), I was adamant that a Vitamin C was needed in my skincare regime. Everyone I spoke to about it seemed to rave about it. 'You aren't using a Vitamin C!?' followed by this face ?????, it seemed like the magical ingredient that everyone but me knew about. I mean yes, of course I'd heard about it, but I didn't realise it was that big of a deal. 2 days later my google history resembled something of a vitamin addict and I had at least 12 different Google chrome tabs open on my phone with about 876 different Vitamin C products. Even though it was like a minefield, one name kept popping up again and again.
Garden Of Wisdom.
Nadine Baggot was raving about it and so was Sali Hughes. It covered all 3 bases that I was looking for: cost, effectiveness and cruelty-free. It had this ingredient which I'd never heard of before, Ferulic Acid. It sounded too good to be true.
Ferulic acid is a powerful antioxidant found in the cell walls of plants. Ferulic acid not only protects vitamin C against oxidation but has been found to be destroying the superoxide and hydroxyl radicals thus helping to protect skin against ageing. Ferulic acid is particularly beneficial for protecting skin against sun damage.
Now, the reason why I was so adamant that I wanted a Vitamin C Serum in my life (despite all the pleas from everyone that I needed one) was because my skin seemed dull. I was doing everything right, my diet was on point, drinking at least 2 litres of water a day, exercising, getting enough sleep but I still seemed to have lost my glow. Vitamin C is renowned for giving you a little bit of brightness back in your life. Not to mention it also helps with evening out your skin tone and reducing pigmentation, of which I had a lot of (thanks Mum for squeezing my spots years ago). I also heard it helps with redness but more about that later.
I added it to my cart and £10 was taken from my account. I just want to add here that when I started using it, I had already established a working routine for me, and when I added it into my routine I had no other new products in my routine and everything was working fine for my skin.
I was using this in my morning routine and applying after my tone/spritz and BEFORE Hyaluronic Acid. Boom. I appreciate that it is a pump dispenser, more hygienic and all round more effective I find. Consistency of the product is good, a tad bit thinner than I imagined. It's easy to apply and I find 1 pump is just enough for my whole face. It's lightweight and smooth and quickly absorbed. There is a slight tingle when it goes onto the face and it does need getting used to. It's not painful but if you're familiar with acid toning you will know what I'm talking about. Note: I have sensitive skin so it could just be me. I found it to be quite a strong sting if you have a spot or broken skin so I would avoid those areas and make sure you wash your hands after use.
I started to see results after 3 weeks. Slight but a definite increase in my 'glow'. The texture of my skin looked smoother and my pigmentation issues had definitely decreased. See pictures below for full results after 2 months of using the product.
What they say:
Garden of Wisdom Vitamin C 23% + Ferulic Acid Serum provides high strength pure L-ascorbic acid to brighten and even out skin tone whilst Ferulic acid helps protect skin against free radical damage.
Vitamin C or specifically L-ascorbic acid, L-AA, is a powerful antioxidant with credible body of research supporting its skin benefits.
L-AA antioxidant powers also help prevent the oxidation of melanin, skin's natural pigment, resulting in a clearer, brighter and more even skin tone. Vitamin C serum also helps to inhibit the production of skin pigment, melanin, and is so used to prevent and treat hyperpigmentation.Victoriahealth.com

What I say:
There is definitely an improvement in my skin texture and tone, not to mention it looks brighter. Although the changes are subtle they are there. And I have complete faith that as I continue using this product, the stubborn pigmentation issues will definitely fade. This product is one of the fair few ones that do actually live up to its claims, and when you add the price into it, it's a complete no brainer. I was hoping this would help with the redness in my skin but think I may have to introduce niacinamide for more power with this. I would definitely rebuy this serum and have no hesitation in recommending it.

See you on the next one!
